This course is suitable for anyone who comes into contact with children and young people during the course of their work, voluntary or leisure activities. The recommended maximum is 12 delegates.

Course overview
This course will give you an introduction to safeguarding children and young people. The course includes scenarios to help you to think about what you would do in a particular situation and can be tailored to your needs.

Course materials
Delegates will receive course handouts and a certificate of attendance.

• The different types of child abuse and how they can affect a child
• How to manage your own feelings
• Recognising physical and behavioural signs of child abuse
• How to respond to child abuse concerns and give support to a child in need
• Reporting concerns you may have about a child
• Following a code of conduct and implementing good practice principles
• Implementing policies and procedures in your organisation
