Who should attend
Existing or potential project managers, project team members, project stakeholders. No prior knowledge of project management is assumed.

Learning outcomes
By the end of the course delegates will:
• Understand the importance of communication to the success of projects
• Know the stages of the project lifecycle and the activities in each
• Be able to communicate the key information about the project to your stakeholders
• Know how to answer questions raised during a stakeholder review
• Understand how to keep the project team informed about the progress of the project and how to keep it a high priority for them
• Be aware of common project management mistakes
• Know how to use simple templates to ensure consistent communication of your projects
• Understand how to complete a successful project delivery.

Introduction

Project Management Principles
What is a project?
The 4 stages of a project and the activities that happen at each stage

As a group you will work with the templates and tools through each of the 4 stages to deliver a course project

Stage 1
• Create a Project Initialisation Document

 

 


Stage 2
Design a "Project Deliverable" and develop a schedule and resource plan.
• Present design to stakeholders and answer questions on your project ready for approval


Stage 3

Develop your design, communicating and working as a team to deliver the project within the constraints of the project management triangle

Stage 4
• Deliver your project to the stakeholders and collect lessons learnt and snagging items still to be resolved

Action Plans
At the end, create a learning log to ensure the work you have done is carried forward into the workplace
