Course overview
This is a very accessible course, which provides insight into the complex
balance between Equal Opportunities and the principles of Diversity. Staff
are provided with an overview of the some of the current legislation regulating
equal opportunities, discrimination and diversity in the workplace in
a practical and easily understandable way
Who should attend
Recommended for staff who need to evidence Equality and Diversity at KSF
Level 1 or 2.
Due to the high level if interaction and group work, the optimum number
of participants is 15.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the session participants will:
Have a better understanding of the similarities and differences
between equal opportunity and diversity
Be familiar with some of the current legislation governing Equality
and Diversity
Understand the impact of equality and diversity issues on behaviour
and service delivery
Be able to identify and challenge unacceptable behaviour in a professional
manner
Training style
The workshop will be highly interactive, encouraging participation and
making use of exercises, discussions and group work. Practical and relevant
examples will be used as a springboard to help apply knowledge and understanding
to real-life scenarios. A healthy balance of trainer input and a variety
of practical activities ensure adult learning principles are met.

Handouts and worksheets are provided to each participant to support topics
covered on the workshop. Certificates of attendance will be presented
to each participant after training has been completed
