BBC - Office XP Rollout

Alpha has been delighted to work with the BBC as part of the Corporation’s programme to rollout Windows 2000 and Office XP.

Jane Webster, of the BBC, was responsible for implementing the two year programme and chose Alpha because of our long association with the organisation. The BBC wanted to enable staff to build on their skills in a variety of ways. With over 26,000 staff it was essential to provide flexible learning opportunities.

Working to the BBC’s brief Alpha offered pre-rollout awareness briefings and user effectiveness surveys, as well as overviews of Office XP.

Once upgrades had taken place staff were provided with further support. “By making floorwalkers available and offering one to one coaching sessions we made sure staff could get to grips with their new desktop and make it work for them almost immediately” said Anne Harkness, Chief Executive of Alpha Training.

Alpha also delivered a series of masterclasses on subjects such as: “Organising Your Outlook”, “Timesavers in Excel and “Multimedia Presentations in PowerPoint”, and helped develop online learning modules.

Jane Webster says “Alpha have delivered high calibre support on this project and we have received excellent feedback. It is important to us that BBC staff aren’t able to differentiate between their own trainers and those from Alpha. The Alpha trainers have blended in extremely well and are regarded as part of the in-house team”.
