| Bromley Primary Care Trust - Appraisal Skills Training | |||

Having provided IT training for Bromley PCT for over 10 years, Alpha was delighted to design and deliver training for the Trust's new appraisal system. Kathryn Cornish, one of our Business Skills trainers, worked closely with Joy Halligan, Training and Development Manager at Bromley to create a range of appraisal training events. The Trust employs approximately 1200 staff and it was essential that the right training opportunities were available to everyone Three different types of event took place over a 3 month period, resulting in a total of over 30 training sessions. Short briefing sessions for appraisees took place throughout the Trust. These aimed to highlight the key features of the system and help staff to get the most from the process. Similar sessions took place for existing appraisers to help them carry out fair and motivating appraisals with their staff. The briefings were informal and participative ensuring people could ask questions and share information about best practice. |

| Feedback from participants
was very positive, with some saying: "I now feel much more confident
and better equipped to carry out appraisals" and "I will be able
to make the appraisal process a positive experience for my appraisees".
